For some people, ordering from Amazon comes with the hazard of leaving an expensive package sitting on their door step. This is about to change if you own a Buick or GMC vehicle.
General Motors recently announced that seven million owners of eligible vehicles in the United States can have their Amazon packages delivered into their vehicle. This 2015 or newer model year Buick and GMC vehicles with active OnStar® accounts and Amazon Prime.
This new Amazon Key In-Car Delivery service allows Amazon Prime members to opt to have their packages delivered to their vehicle when it’s parked in a publicly accessible area, such as on the street, in a workplace parking lot, or on your driveway at home. All you have to do is download the Amazon Key app and seamlessly link their Amazon and OnStar® accounts.
Once this is done, you can shop on Amazon.com and select the “In-Car” delivery option at checkout. When the delivery is on its way, your Amazon Key App will send you a notification. It will also send one when the delivery is completed, and the vehicle is relocked.
Currently, this service is available at no extra charge for Prime customers who have an active OnStar® account. It is available in 37 cities in the United States and their surrounding areas with more cities to follow.
