It’s only fitting that the city of Calabasas is hosting a pumpkin festival, considering the name comes from the Spanish word “calabaza,” which translates to pumpkin. On the weekend of October 15th and 16th, there will be a celebration of Fall and everything pumpkin. Visitors can enjoy a variety of events, including live music, exciting contests, carnival games, a car show, and much more.
If you love the taste of pumpkin, vendors will be selling all sorts of tasty treats like pumpkin pie, shakes, beer, and even Brazilian pumpkin stew and tamales. (Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!) If you want to take things to another level, you can enter the pumpkin pie eating contest which takes place on both Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.
After filling up on pumpkin treats, don’t forget to stop by the professional pumpkin carver that will be on-site. He will be creating masterpieces out of our favorite fall gourds. There will also be inflatables, carnival games, a pumpkin patch, reptile and bug shows. Bringing the kids? All the better! There will be a giant slide for them.
The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival will take place at the end of Lost Hills Road, near Juan Bautista de Anza Park. Be sure to head over there on October 15 and 16 from 10am to 5pm. This is only 30 minutes away from Simi Valley. Admission is $5 and includes access to all of the aforementioned activities. We hope to see you all there having an amazing time celebrating the Fall season!
