2016 GMC Sierra eAssist Technology coming this Spring

Starting this spring at Simi Valley Buick GMC, the 2016 GMC Sierra will be available with new eAssist technology, a mild-hybrid powertrain.

Unlike full-hybrid systems, eAssist technology cannot propel a vehicle on electricity alone. Instead, its goal is to take some of the work off of the traditional powertrain by providing supplementary electric power. The benefit is extra efficiency at a relatively low cost—for the engineers, the mechanics, and the buyer.

Under the hood, the 2016 GMC Sierra eAssist technology includes a single electric motor and a 0.45-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which General Motors claims should improve its fuel economy by about 13% compared to the regular model, or about two mpg in the city.

In addition, the eAssist propulsion system will provide 13 extra horsepower and 44 additional lb-ft of torque, while also increasing weight by approximately 100 pounds. Overall, we think it’ll be a great option for consumers looking to get the most out of their gas money!

We can’t wait to get these on the lot! If you are in the market for a new truck, head on over to www.simibuickgmc.com and find the right truck for your needs.
