Buick seems to have a thing for naming its large cars with the prefix “en-.” They’ve got the Encore and the Enclave, and they’ve just now launched the Envision. The Encore is a subcompact, the Enclave is an SUV, and the Envision should slide right in the middle as a mid-size crossover.
The new car was revealed at the Chengdu Motor Show and so far has only launched in China. It doesn’t look too unlike the Encore. Some of the front is similar, like the oversized grille, though it does have several styling cues that set it apart—e.g. the wing-styled front and spoiler and the prominent crease running down the side.
Though Buick has not officially said anything about bringing the car over to the states, we’d be surprised at Simi Valley Buick GMC if it didn’t happen. The market for crossovers is one of the fastest-growing in the United States, and Buick has everything to gain from launching the Envision here. For now, though, it seems we’ll just have to wait.
