The Buick May sales report looked great for GM, but so did GMC’s. Both Buick and GMC experienced significant retail and total sale increases—enough to post their best May performance since 2007 and 2005, respectively.
Though GMC sales were driven by all-new full-size Yukon and Yukon XL SUV, with retail sales up 138 percent and total sales up 10 percent, it was the Terrain compact crossover that earned the spotlight.
It achieved a personal victory with its best month of the year and best May ever, as well as a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The GMC Terrain will get even better this summer with standard OnStar 4G LTE with built-in WiFi hotspot capability features being added to the new 2015 models.
Buick sales were driven by the Encore’s excellent performance with 114 percent retail and 113 percent total growth, as well as the Regal’s eighth consecutive month of retail sales increases. Like the Terrain, the Regal was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS, a testament to the consistent reliability and safety across both lineups.
